Spring dose of the COVID-19 vaccine
In February, the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) advised a spring dose of the COVID-19 vaccine for:
The vaccine is currently available for:
• Adults aged 75 years and over
• Residents in care homes for older adults
• individuals aged 12 years and over who have a weakened immune system
The NHS will contact those who are eligible to make a spring booster appointment, so people should wait until they hear from the NHS. The NHS will prioritise those whose clinical need is greatest, as it has throughout, starting with those who have had a bigger gap since their last dose, then working through the cohort to invite others who have waited less time. Everyone who is eligible will be offered a booster between three and six months over the Spring and early Summer.
Prescription Ordering Direct service
NHS Prescription ordering direct (POD) service is the easy way for you to order your repeat prescription!
During the coronovirus pandemic the NHS POD has provided a way to order your repeat prescription when GP practices have been working behind closed doors. This means that the service has seen an increase in the volume of calls, whilst staffing levels are fluctuating due to self isolation cases. The call handlers are working extremely hard to answer all calls as soon as they possibly can, so your patience and understanding is really appreciated.
Currently, there are 48 GP practices in Coventry and Rugby that are signed up to the POD service, giving the opportunity for these practice patients to call a dedicated number to speak to an experienced call handler when needing to reorder a repeat prescription.
The NHS POD Service is open from 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday excluding bank holidays.

--MEDICATION REVIEW--
If you take long-term medication, it should be reviewed regularly to make sure you are getting the best out of your medicines. It is important to check that:
•your medicines are working properly
•You are not suffering any side-effects
•You are taking the best medicines for your problems
•Also, we will ensure that any blood pressure checks, asthma reviews or blood tests that you need are up to date
We encourage our patients to be proactive and involved in their care and treatment. It is the patient's responsibility to book an appointment with a clinician for a regular review. Patients are strongly advised to keep up to date with their medication review appointments and are encouraged to contact the surgery if they should note any problems with your medication at any point during their treatment.
